Greece has an ancient culture and is often cited as the birthplace of European Civilization
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe, with extensive coastlines and islands in the Aegean, Ionian and Mediterranean Seas.

It consists of a mountainous mainland peninsula reaching out into the sea at the southern end of the Balkans, the Peloponnesus peninsula, which is separated from the mainland by a canal (Corinth), and around 1,400 islands, among these Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Lesbos , Mykonos and Paros.

Greece has an ancient culture and is often cited as the birthplace of European civilization. It has had a significant influence on arts, language, philosophy, politics and sports of western society.

In the past
the capital city, Athens became the cultural and artistic center of the Mediterranean, producing magnificent works of architecture, sculpture, drama and literature.
Among the most popular destinations in Greece are: Athens, with its Acropolis and major museums; The islands of Corfu and Crete both with many attractions and beautiful beaches; Rhodes, an island with ancient mouments, as well as beaches; Delphi, the site of the famous oracle of Apollo and a major archaeological site; and Olympia, the site of the ancient Olympics.

is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, ranking in the world's top 20 countries. Visitors are drawn to the country's beaches and reliable sunny summer weather, its nightlife, historical sites and natural beauty. Over 90% of visitors who come to Greece come from other European countries, but in recent years there have been a growing number of tourists from other parts of the world. The tourist season is April through October, with peak season in July and August. Many visitors would also come outside the tourist season.
