Africa is the world's second largest continent, and with a total population of around 1 billion also the second most populous continent.
Africa has 54 countries, including Madagascar and various island groups, associated with the continent. Its northern half is primarily desert or arid, while its central and southern areas contain both savanna plains and very dense rainforest regions. From the earliest days of travel in Africa, the visitors have always been fascinated by the landscape, wildlife and birds that the continent has in abundance and each destination has its own charm.
Africa has perhaps the worlds largest wild population of predators, such as lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs etc., and also large wild populations of buffalo, antelope, deer, elephants, giraffes etc., ranging freely in primarily open national Parks. It is also home to a variety of jungle creatures, including primates. Many people travel to Africa to visit some of these national parks and to go on guided photo safaris. |
