New South Wales is Australia's oldest state and packed full of amazing attractions, places of spectacular natural beauty and unique history. The main city of New South Wales is Sydney. Australian Capital Territory, or simply ACT, is where Canberra, the capital of Australia, is located. ACT is very small, and completely surrounded by New South Wales.
Victoria has some of the best sightseeing and most fascinating places in the country. Melbourne is the main city of Victoria. South Australia is best known for its vine regions, Barossa, Clare Valley and the Limestone Coast. The main city is Adelaid. Western Australia has a rugged and beautifull outback and a history tied to the ocean.
The main city of Western Australia is Perth. Northern Territory is a land of contrasts. From the lush rainforests of Kakadu and Katherine to the arid red plains of the Red Centre in Alice Springs and the great rock Uluru (Ayers Rock), the land is full of surprises. The main city is Darwin. Tasmania is tucked away at the far south of the country separated by the mainland by the untamed waters of Bass Strait. Tasmania is a place with heritage and a spectacular history. The main city is Hobart.
There are many things you would want to see in Australia, one of them is the Great Barrier Reef which is the largest coral reef system in the world, composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for 2,600 kilometres (1,600 miles) over an area of approx. 344,400 square kilometres (133,000 square miles). The reef is located off the coast of Queensland in northeast Australia, and can be seen from outer space. It is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms. |
